Alex Cheng Wei Ray (Dr Alex) is an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore. He is an Of Counsel with the Disputes and Specialist Practice, and a member of the Healthcare Law Team and Criminal Litigation Team.

Dr Alex’s practice areas include contentious and non-contentious matters relating to medical law, negligence and malpractice claims, disciplinary proceedings before the Singapore Medical Council, Singapore Dental Council and Coroner Inquiries. He has also assisted in various criminal matters including cases under Prevention of Corruption Act, Road Traffic Act, Electricity Act, Penal Code and United Nations Act.

Dr Alex is also a fully registered medical doctor. His medical work experience includes rotational training in departments of General Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopaedics Surgery and Emergency Medicine of Restructured Hospitals, working in polyclinics, GP clinics, Singapore Prison Service, Ambulance Coverage and the Health Promotion Board. He is able to provide the Healthcare Law Team with valuable clinical input.

Dr Alex is a member of the Singapore Medical Association, College of Family Physicians Singapore, The Faculty of Forensic & Legal Medicine of The Royal College of Physicians (UK) and Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK).

Dr Alex graduated from the National University of Ireland with an MB BCh BAO (Hons) and Licentiates from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland & the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (LRCP & SI), and he holds a Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine from the National University of Singapore.

In legal qualifications, Dr Alex obtained a Juris Doctor degree from the Singapore Management University, and was conferred a Diploma in Law and an LL.B (Hons.) by the University of London. In addition, he also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in International IP Law, a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Law and LL.M (Merit) in International Business Law awarded by University College London / Queen Mary University of London.

In addition, Dr Alex holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Professional Accounting from Murdoch University, Perth, Australia.
