Amarjit Singh is a Consultant of the Disputes & Specialist Practice, specialising in criminal law.
Amarjit has rich and varied experience in criminal law practice, having been a Defence Counsel, District Judge and Deputy Public Prosecutor.
In the Crime Division of the Attorney General’s Chambers (where he served as a Deputy Public Prosecutor and State Counsel), Amarjit specialised
in High Court prosecution work and also argued appeal cases in the Supreme Court; while as a District Judge in the Subordinate Courts, he
adjudicated mainly criminal cases.
He has defended, adjudicated and prosecuted cases on all levels of criminal and appellate courts in Singapore, and has worked on Petitions
for Clemency and defended clients facing trial by the Subordinate Military Court.
He retired from the Singapore Legal Service in 2012 as Deputy Senior State Counsel prior to re-joining private practice.
Amarjit graduated with a LL.B (Hons.) in 1981 from the National University of Singapore and was in private practice immediately after, in
criminal and civil litigation work. Amarjit is also active in community work, having served as a Member and Secretary of the Sikh Advisory
Board. For his outstanding public service contributions, he was conferred the Pingat Bakti Masyarakat (PBM) Medal in 2012 by the Singapore
government.
